Where does the data come from?
Open data of the Registry of Companies and Partnerships (Law 20,659, Chilean Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism) published on datos.gob.cl: yearly incorporation files 2013 to 2024, downloaded on September 29, 2026. Collected and processed by datasets.lat (as of September 29, 2026).

  • 1,277,622 companies incorporated in Chile's Registry of Companies and Partnerships (RES, "Company in a Day", Law 20,659) between May 2013 and December 2024: the full history of the registry before 2025.
  • By year of incorporation: 2013 (20,671), 2014 (51,547), 2015 (64,781), 2016 (76,173), 2017 (87,554), 2018 (101,998), 2019 (109,419), 2020 (134,769), 2021 (172,064), 2022 (145,605), 2023 (147,784) and 2024 (165,258).
  • By legal form: 744,135 SpA, 312,482 EIRL, 220,578 limited liability companies, 369 corporations (S.A.) and 58 general, limited or mutual guarantee partnerships.
  • Nationwide: 16 regions and 348 communes. Santiago Metropolitan 582,452, Valparaiso 127,966, Biobio 98,703, Maule 64,270, Los Lagos 63,480 and La Araucania 61,886. Top communes: Santiago (94,150), Providencia (63,231), Las Condes (56,285), Vina del Mar (32,163) and Antofagasta (31,253).
  • Declared capital in Chilean pesos for every row: median CLP 1,700,000, 159,556 companies with CLP 10 million or more and 6,761 with CLP 100 million or more.
  • 19 columns: RUT (tax ID), company name, legal form (code and name), capital, incorporation date, registration date, SII approval date, year and month, tax commune and region (code and name), registered commune and region (code and name), RES filing id, country and source.

How it was prepared

  • The 12 yearly incorporation files published by the RES were merged, keeping incorporation filings only.
  • Every RUT was validated with its check digit (1 row with an invalid RUT was dropped) and there are no duplicate RUTs.
  • ISO dates, numeric capital and official region names added to the codes.
  • Sorted from the most recent incorporation to the oldest.
  • Company data only: no partners, legal representatives or personal contact data.
  • Complements our Chile new companies 2025-2026 dataset (same core columns).
